CREW Review- Professor B

Professor B Math is an Internet based, complete math program aimed at ages 3 to upper middle school.  It is broken down into three levels and the founder, Everard Barrett says, "We cover 3 years of math in each Level. Each Level takes about 10 months to complete."  Now that's impressive!

Also from the web site:
The Professor B Math Program has a powerful history of achievement over the past thirty years. This claim is substantiated by many testimonials, statistical analyses and research. We have set many precedents in mathematics education:

Kindergarten and first graders mastering the lower/higher addition/subtraction facts and reading numbers in the hundreds of trillions (fifteen-digit numbers).
Second graders mastering all multiplication facts and long division.

Fifth graders mastering “seventh grade math.”

Fifth and sixth grade classes in the most disadvantaged communities outperforming ninth graders on statewide algebra exams.

We have consistently delivered HUGE GAINS in math scores.

We used Professor B mostly for our new 5th grader, but my 9th grader dabbled with it for my reviews sake, so we used primarily levels 2 and 3.
Pros:
-  This is a very thorough program.  If you have a child that needs a step by step guide to learn, this program will appeal to them.
-  Visually stimulating.  With the help of the "bee", problems are shown step by step, with arrows pointing to the parts of the problem being taught.  Visual learners will do well with this!
-  Rigorous training.  The company's claim to teach three years in one is no joke.  With detailed step by step instructions, there is not a point missed.  If you have a child who needs to catch up or has struggled with the presented concepts in the past, this approach to teaching may be just what they need for a boost in their skills.
-  Workbook pages are included.  For each level of teaching there is a printable workbook.  HUNDREDS of pages of practice all included in the price of the package.
Cons (or what did not work for OUR family):
-  No sound.  You, as the teacher, read the voice boxes to your child.  Even if you have a child who can read, Professor B encourages you to go through the lesson together.  This frustrated my son, who is an auditory learner.  Guess he wants to hear someone other than me!
-  We did seem to have some problems navigating the web site once in the a specific level.  Minor, but frustrating for the 10 year old.

Program overview:
Level 1 (Pre K-K) - Intro to addition and subtraction, numbers to 100, time and money
Level 2 (3rd-5th graders) - Multiplication, division, fractions
Level 3 (6th-8th graders) - Fractions, decimals, percents

Price:
The website is being updated on a regular basis.  The current pricing as of July 1 is:
Each level of the E-Learning program will cost $100 for a total of 3 years access.
